Why Use Hemp?
Every pair of ChillidaX is made from over 55% all natural hemp
Hemp has had a much bigger impact on our history than we would ever think.
By the third Millennium BC, hemp had established itself as one of the major fibres of the world. No less than 80% of the world’s textiles were hemp.
Even our ancestors who arrived in Australia were carried on boats reliant on hemp sails, ropes and riggings.
However taxes placed on hemp farming at the start of the twentieth century due to its association with the other type of hemp spelt the end of the industry.
Yet, now as we recognize our need to start conscience living, hemp is back in
a big way.
Hemp clothing is warmer in winter, cooler in summer, softer, extremely
breathable and significantly longer lasting than clothing made from cotton.
Hemp clothing also repels up to 95% of Ultra Violet rays whilst other cloths can only achieve around 30%.
The hemp crop itself is grown without the use of harmful pesticides. These pesticides often find their way into our waterways damaging the quality of water, surrounding wildlife and ultimately us.
Hemp also has very deep roots, which help to prevent soil erosion that has devastated many parts of Australia’s farmland.
But the best thing about hemp is that it is bloody comfy!!!!
Perhaps the second greatest advantage of hemp is that it limits the use of
cotton.
The cotton plant uses more water than any other crop on earth. In fact, by
choosing this pair of ChillidaX over a product made from 100% Cotton you
will save over 1000 gallons of water!! That’s the same as shortening your shower
by three minutes and turning off the tap while brushing your teeth everyday for
a year!
Cotton also accounts for over 50% of all chemical usage in agriculture.
So feel good about slipping into a pair of ChillidaX, not only because they are unbelievably comfy but also because you are lessening your impact on our planet.
If you want to change the world, start by changing your daX.
